At 7.30 A.M. of 15th December, at the Lecture Hall, Anqing Foreign Language School grandly held the guidance conference concerning arts and sciences division for students in Grade 10. The conference aimed to help students establish correct perceptions in that they would be well prepared for choices in science-humanities division next semester. In attendance were Senior High Director Cao Siqing, all directors and students from Grade 10.
Director Cao Siqing chaired the meeting which was well organized and fascinating. Therefore, all teachers and students listened with keen pleasure and were deeply inspired as well.
In the first place, Director Cao Siqing stressed the necessity of this meeting. He emphasized that students were supposed to take the science-humanities division into account as early as possible and get ready for their future, which meant students themselves had the decision-making power.
In the second place, Director Cao Siqing pointed out the planning on arts& science division was quite significant. Thus, students can not slack off. The principle was that the best program was the one which most fit students. Afterwards, Director Cao Siqing presented the enrollment quotas of liberal arts& science in College Entrance Examination for the past few years. Also, he showed students the employment rate data in arts& science, reminding students that they should not only make vertical but also make horizontal comparison with regard to their present grades in all subjects.
What’s more, students should not tend to go overboard on one or some subjects untimely. Instead, they were supposed to abandon the leaning branch phenomenon and see where their potential went.
In the third place, Director Cao Siqing introduced Anqing Foreign Language School’s teaching achievements in terms of College Entrance Exam in Liberal Arts& Science from 2011 to 2016. More remarkably, thunderous applause broke out when Director Cao Siqing mentioned that in the 2016 College Entrance Examination and Senior High School Entrance Examination, 198 students from Anqing Foreign Language School obtained the scores above 620 points. 171 students got admitted to the undergraduate courses, which meant 86% of the students entered regular college courses, creating all-time high. Thus, the attending students were greatly stimulated.
In the fourth place, Director Cao Siqing presented Anqing Foreign Language School’s teaching results regarding National Entrance Exam in terms of Arts& Sports as well as the minimum passing score of the 2016 Arts College Entrance Examination in Anhui Province. He addressed that students majoring in arts& sports were university students. Entering university meant a step further in students’ life. Meanwhile, their family got advanced too.
Last but not the least, Director Cao Siqing explained to students some conditions and policies about overseas studying in addition to specific events and promising prospects in the collaboration between elite schools from abroad and Anqing Foreign Language School in recent years, which indicated another way out for students’ future.
Overall, the conference brought to a successful close in warm applause.
